What is Spiritual Integration?

What is Spiritual Integration?

What is Spiritual Integration?

Simply stated, it is the intentionality for inclusion of mind, body, and spirit in the therapeutic process. It holds sacred the premise that cathartic work can happen when the inner essence of a person, their soul, and how each client uniquely connects to a greater source such as Creator God or the Divine (*should the client choose). This often includes incorporating a client’s value system, ancestral supports, faith tradition practices, or communal healing elements as part of the therapeutic work.

Spiritual integration takes many forms, including meditation, prayer, bodywork, and dream work. It is a foundational element rooted in diverse healing practices, cultures, and communities. In psychology, spiritual integration is reflected in Maslow’s humanism, Carl Jung’s shadow work, the Self-energy of Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the broader field of transpersonal psychology. Research consistently shows that incorporating spirituality into therapy enhances its effectiveness and supports healthy human development. My goal is to help clients connect with their soul self and with their source of ultimate love and wisdom

I was raised in the Christian faith tradition, yet, in a home where other faiths were respected with curiosity and reverence. This open and diverse paradigm has proven to be a solid foundation for fostering acceptance and inclusiveness. I have sense evolved from my inherited tradition but continue to hold reverence for it and other's.

What is Whole Person Healing?

What is Spiritual Integration?

What is Spiritual Integration?

Undoubtedly, one part effects the whole.

Many in the helping profession have known for much time that the health and healing of our clients can not solely rely on 45 minute sessions a week. Surely not when the power and benefits of addressing the mind, body, and spirit are so well documented and researched. Our brain and our bodies hold the memories of the trespasses against us. This is why I often approach trauma informed work with somatic interventions. Traditional talk therapy has to evolve. For one fact, it only targets the most sophisticated part of the brain, the prefrontal cortex. However, our memories and trauma response triggers are stored in a more primitive part called the limbic system. The limbic system, the central nervous system and the immune system are deeply connected. As a result trauma takes up whole person residence, wreaking havoc not only on a person's cognition, spirit, and relationships, but also in their physical health.

Collaboration is key! In my practice I strive to offer whole person healing education and collaborative resources to my client's. This often looks like connecting client's to other multi-disciplinary practitioners and services such as

  • Chiropractic care
  • Acupuncture
  • Lymphatic draining
  • Therapeutic Massage
  • Trauma Informed Yoga
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Brain Spotting
  • Naturopathic care
  • Functional Medicine
  • Pelvic Floor Therapy
  • Nutritionist
  • Psychiatric Medication Management
